Minutes of the committee meeting held on Tuesday 3rd May 2011.

Present; Jon Robinson, Albert Stillwell, Mark Harris, Jack Simpson, Tony Standing, Gill Standing, Anne Collins, Martin Tooth, Chris Charlton, Paul Allison.

Apologies; Martin Gasson, Phil Osborne

1. Paul apologised to the committee for his behaviour on the course during Sunday’s competition.
2. New Wish list created, TS
3. Race Night 1st October Henfield Village Hall. We are committed to selling 50 tickets.
4. Scaffold poles and timber are available if anyone has a truck to collect them.
5. Concerns raised about types of trees planted to right of 8th green, and what effect they might have on the green. Situation to be monitored..
6. Porch light purchased and fitted, PO
7. Tony Russell won the Eric Tysoe memorial competition.
8. Deep water posts for the pond have been made, 2 perry buoys to be purchased MH £30 each.
9. Captain’s Day 19th June; BBQ and events morning and afternoon
10. Rate relief, decision pending.
11. Foul water onion to be pumped out, cost approx. £150 MT
12. New cards purchased, AG to make new stroke index boards for the tees (AS to speak to him)
13. Treasurer’s Report; JS to check grounds maintenance figures as we have no major expenditure to come this year. If funds available CC to purchase gang mower and top dressing spreader.
14. PO has a contact who can make cakes for Charity Day, AH will help sell on the day.
15. Horton lost match against Waterhall, all enjoyed meal at The Fox afterwards. Some members not very happy they were not in the club team and that they were not informed until they turned up to play. MT suggested the club did not handle the situation very well and that in future anyone who puts their name up to play should be informed before the day of the competition whether or not they are in the team. For next year names of those in the team and any reserves will go up on the notice board 2 weeks before the date of the fixture.
16. PA to fit posts 50yards short of some of the greens and tees for a trial period.
17. Thanks given to Albert for his work on the greens, they are looking very good at present.
18. Cost of a top dressing spreader £249 CC
19. Set of 3 gang mowers from Smallfields, near Crawley, £1000. CC has looked at.
20. PT is putting results onto club website
21. 8th tee overflow from new pond needs to be buried.
22. TS has put jobs on a board for weekday members to action.
23. Constitution changes signed by MT/TS
24. A discussion took place with regard to plastic being laid in ditches.
25. Out of bounds posts, from 9th tee, to be painted green on side that is not out of bounds.
26. AC, a work party spreadsheet to go on notice board with names/jobs completed by members
27. TS New cards cost £285, cheque from JS
28. Singles/Doubles list on board for 1st games
29. TS cost of skip £150 to take away rubbish/unwanted items, can club afford?
30. TS felt for tractor shed £300, when funding is available
31. TS rules for Sunday competitions to be typed up and kept in clubhouse for each year MT to liaise with JR
32. TS notice to go on board for Waterhall away match, 15th July JR
33. SCCGU informed club that if we are not members we cannot hold Junior Competition in August, we have until 15th May to respond.
34. CC could we have a new sign on notice board reminding members of acceptable dress code? MT to do
35. CC, water conservation, could we collect water from pond in woods? If so we would need to purchase a container to do this.
36. CC is NM focusing on tees during his work party time? MT to speak to him about what needs to be done.
37. AS 2 members needed for during the week, they can start with water from the pond in the wood.
38. CC there is a shortage of petrol on Saturday mornings, petrol needs to be purchased in 5 litre cans now
39. JR raised issue of PO’s attitude/behaviour/walking off the course during the memorial competition for one of the founder members of the club. MT to ask AS to speak to him
40. MH concerns about youths on course again without paying. (Sam Haywood and Oliver Parsons)
41. Wednesday evening lessons with Keith will not take place this summer. Last summer there were numerous occasions when no members turned up.
42. New rabbit controller to visit the course
43. Behind 3rd green, ball can only be moved if there is a lot of rabbit scrapings, however playing partners must agree before ball is moved.
