Minutes of committee meeting held on Tuesday 1st June 2010.

Present: Albert Stillwell, Jack Simpson, Chris Charlton, Martin Tooth, Mark Harris, Phil Osborne, Jon Robinson, Anne Collins

Apologies: Tony Standing, Gill Standing, Martin Gasson

1. Gas cylinder cage Fixed, cost extra £10 - labour
2. Tractor shed walls ongoing – we are about 250 bricks short
3. Clubhouse decorating on-going, materials as asked for now provided, gas cage also needs top coat
4. Clubhouse lighting now done
5. Buffet evening at end of October with 2010 trophies presentation at East Brighton Golf Club. CC can get DJ for £100. MG absent so menus costs etc not available
6. Small green mower for tees broken.
7. Pond planning application to be posted about 12th June
8. 3rd green drop zone now created
9. Power supply for compressor pending - PO
10. MT has bought 1 sprinkler – cost approx £25
11. CC purchased pump etc for green watering but wants to cut outlet pipe into sections and buy 2 ‘quick join’ kits for approx £80
12. Genny exhaust being worked on by TF, tree still needs cutting back?
13. Rabbit man still coming – getting a few but lots to go!
14. John White and MT to checked ownership of land adjoining our entry track – unchanged. Owner has cleared hardcore but may dump (then clear) again
15. AC and TS have discussed work party commitments and AC has list of people to ring – agreed that they should be told that they must show up on a Tues afternoon if they can’t make Sat mornings
16. JS discussed financial report – not quite as good as before, primarily due to downgrading of estimates for membership fees
17. Cutters for greens mower now costing £670 due to extra parts required
18. (from previous minutes) MT (MG?) to check out cost of new rods for mower (?)
19. Outside of Clubhouse still being assessed by TS
20. Previously thought that someone was signing guests in under name of Richard Harris – not true, we have a member Roy Harris who is signing his guests in
21. JS presented accounts and is now forecasting £500 loss for the year
22. AS presented an idea to build a new 3rd green – behind and to the right of the existing one as looked at from 3rd fairway – could ALL committee get to July’s meeting 15 minutes early so that AS can explain in situ?
23. AS asked if we could get scarifier up and running again as are getting ‘creepy’ grass on greens
24. PO asked if we could make concerted effort to clean up clubhouse and car park – suggested putting benches in where chairs are to left of entrance door
25. PO also suggested clearing out unwanted items. MT to provide coloured stickers to go on items that might be cleared out. Club also to investigate putting round table and 4 chairs on Ebay
26. PO told us that the free organ would be coming on charity day – 13th June
27. MT to ask landlord to raise security bar on charity day
28. Discussion on incorrect cards took place. Agreed that announcement would be made at next Sunday competition that as from 1st comp in July, incorrect cards will be discounted. Up to 6 volunteers will be available after 9 holes and after 18 holes to check cards for anyone who might want help
29. AC to suggest to members that are not doing work parties that they attend Tuesday afternoons if they definitely cannot do Saturday mornings
30. We will experiment with a different way of issuing tee nos and score cards on competition days, partly to ensure that tee nos are recorded and partly to prevent JR chasing round the course giving out scorecards
31. Back wall of clubhouse is bowing – needs jacking up and putting on concrete foundation
