Minutes of Meeting - June 2011

Minutes of committee meeting held in the Clubhouse on Tuesday 7th June 2011.

Present: Ann Collins, Jack Simpson, Martin Tooth, Mark Harris, Jon Robinson, Albert Stillwell, Chris Charlton, Tony Standing, Phil Osborne.
Apologies: Gill Standing, Martin Gasson.

1. Ticket price for Race Night on 1st October not yet known.
2. Charlie Bean is tending the new trees planted between the 8th green and 4th tee.
3. Phil has fitted the Lobby light.
4. Chris to chase Jim Dobson about the supply of the ‘Eric Tysoe Shield’.
5. Albert purchased one Buoy for either Ł4 or Ł6. Mark to try and get another one.
6. Martin T has arranged an advert in the BN5 magazine for the open day.
7. No rates again this year, well done Martin T.
8. Onion to be pumped out on 17th June at 7.30am. Martin T to attend.
9. New score cards purchased and in operation.
10. Chris has done an excellent job inspecting and purchasing the gang mowers at a cost of Ł1000. He also got a free handle for the Mountfield mower.
11. Chris to purchase a top dresser for Ł249.
12. Martin T has put a letter on the notice board re Waterhall matches.
13. Paul has placed some black posts at 50m from some greens for a 3 month trial.
14. Paul Trower to put competition winners on the Web Site.
15. Overflow pipe on the new pond has been lowered.
16. Green/White out of bounds markers have been painted.
17. Ann has put the ‘work party’ list on the board, tweaking required.
18. ‘Skip’ decision pending.
19. Get quotes for Tractor Shed felting and material for doors.
20. Martin T is preparing the rules for the various competitions.
21. We rejoined the SCGU for Ł257, which is the EGU fee only.
22. Tony to prepare a list for consideration at the next meeting, to cover the Sussex Juniors practice rounds in August (13th to 25th). Ł6 fee for Juniors/parents.
23. Martin T distributed a dress code list, this was commented upon, Martin will put revised list on notice board.
24. Stagnant water from pond behind Clubhouse, NOT to be used on greens.
25. Norman Manley to be responsible for cutting tees.
26. Albert to list priority order for watering greens in this dry spell.
27. Phil explained his reasons for leaving Eric’s competition early. Whilst this was not accepted by all, the Chairman called the matter to a close.
28. The Students who were caught using the course, said they would join in June!!!!!
29. No rabbit man at present, the problem doesn’t seem to bad at the moment.
30. Usual good financial report from Jack. Need to check balance next month before any more main expenditure, other than what is already agreed.
31. Further discussion needed on the Good Friday fixture.
32. Debate on playing Singles/Doubles on Sunday morning match days. It is to be a last resort and this is noted on the rules sheet on the notice board.
33. Confusion on Sunday’s match because Tony Russell changed the flag too early on the 18th and they had 2 red flags, Neil Parsons then chipped into the wrong flag, whilst the team let the result stand, they should have made Neil play the shot again. The fault was with Tony and not Neil.
34. We have the Henfield Post Office window space, free of charge for July. Martin T, Ann and Jack to organise a display.
