April 2011 - Minutes of Meeting

Minutes of the committee meeting held on Tuesday 5th April 2011.
Present: M. Gasson , C. Charlton, J. Simpson, P. Allison, M. Harris, T. Standing, A. Stillwell, A. Collins, M. Tooth, P. Osborne.
Apologies: G. Standing, J. Robinson.
1. AGM was fine except we did not have the previous years minutes. MT helped in the preparation.
2. Welcome to Paul Allison the new Vice Captain.
3. Jim T will give the new exterior ply another coat of stain.
4. Power point has been done by PO (not post office)
5. CC has tidied the plant shed.
6. New or used tools to be added to the wish list by AC
7. 7th Fairway drainage is complete. 5th next winter.
8. Notice board update, report from Captain next meeting (if Spurs are not on the TV)
9. Race Night pending.
10. Scaffold Poles and timber are still available when somebody can get a truck.
11. Jim T and Malc Town have agreed to help with the new trees to the right of the 8th green, just waiting on a date from Charlie Bean. GS to find out date.
12. PO to fit porch light, approx. £35 for the material.
13. Brian Whitwell and Paul Chambers to be guests at the Eric Tysoe match on Easter Sunday.
14. Computer handicap fee of £150 paid.
15. Deep water sign in place for new pond, posts to be done. Get price for a 30” orange perrybuoy with retro tape .( Post note - £66 for one, £120 for two.)
16. BBQ for Captains Day with possible open day in the afternoon. JR making arrangements with AS help. MT to look at fly posting and possible shop notices.
17. 10 weeks to get decision on rate relief.
18. Foul water onion needs pumping out in June. MT to arrange.
19. Change stroke index on score card plus SSS and length of hole 18. TS to get 3000 cards printed.
20. We have spent £1400 on 2 mowers, £305 on tees mower and strimmer, £840 on machinery repairs. Good work from CC.
21. Treasurer gave his usual good report of our finances . To early for membership numbers.
22. Jack will be retiring at the end of the season. Everybody thanked him for his excellent work.
23. AC and Tony J want a list of members when it is available.
24. PO has a contact for making cakes on the Charity Day, Ann H would still like to help.
25. Winter rules will finish on Sat 16th April 2011.
26. Singles and doubles list on wall for those who have paid. CC paid this evening.
27. Bud Evans from Waterhall still not contactable. TS to chase. JR has booked the Fox.
28. Notice to go on board when Waterhall match confirmed.
29. PA to fit posts 50 yards short of some of the greens for a trial period.
30. AS has purchased most of his materials for the greens and tees and now needs help in applying them.
31. CC to investigate the price of a spreader for top dressing.
32. CC to look at a second hand set of 3 gang mowers in Smallfields (near Crawley), approx. £1000.
33. Spray needed for GUR. TS has a can in his car, which he left in the Clubhouse after the meeting.
34. May get some free advertising from the BN5 mag (Emma) for the August Jnr comp. MT to follow up.
35. PA to speak to Tony J to send results to Paul T to put on the web site.
36. Local rules and rules of golf to be used for the Jnr Comp.
37. New 18th tee discussed and rejected as we other more pressing jobs that need doing.
38. No attendance for Henfield Summer fair.
39. Andrew Parsons needs to play his third game to be in the Singles and Doubles.
40. Jobs to go on board for weekday members to action.
41. Changes to constitution needs signing. MT to sort out.
